What Are Ten Frames?
Ten frames are special grids that help us count and understand
numbers.
They have two rows of five boxes each, making ten boxes total. We can fill them to show numbers up to 20
by using two ten frames together. This helps your brain see numbers as groups, which makes counting
easier!
How to Use Ten Frames
1️⃣ Count the filled boxes one by one
2️⃣ Look for full rows (5 boxes in a row)
3️⃣ See the pattern - numbers greater than 10 use two ten frames

Parent Tips 🌟
- Use real objects: Let your child place small toys or snacks in the frames to make counting more tangible
- Play "What's Missing?": Fill a ten frame partially and ask how many more are needed to make 10 or 20
- Make it a game: Race to fill ten frames with different numbers or play "Ten Frame War" with cards
